The Marine Hotel has been serving food and alcohol since 1864, when settlers first arrived in Cardwell. The structure of the hotel has changed a few times over the years, with it first being a two storey hotel.
The new owners Alan and Margaret Power have made extensive changes to both the Hotel , Motel and Bottle Shop.

Live entertainment on a regular basis on Friday nights and Sunday afternoons featuring great music by local artists The Bass Girls, Spare Parts, Paul Brennan, Jusine, Bob The Muso, and Barbary Coasters with Raffles every Friday run by the Very Social Club; Saturday (Lions Club) and Sunday (Junior Rugby League Football Club).
